Demographics

Benzie County is the smallest county in Michigan at only 361 square miles, located in the Northwest Lower Peninsula.  Our area is rich in natural resources with over 57 inland lakes, rivers, forests and areas of productive farmland.  Over 36% of Benzie County is publicly owned State and Federal land, including the Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore, Platte River State Fish Hatchery & Weir and the Historic Point Betsie Lighthouse.

Benzie County is home to five accredited libraries.  You can find meeting spaces, computer labs, and great programs along with thousands of books & movies.

Benzie County is home to many National, State and Local Parks & Recreation facilities.  These parks range from rustic amenities to full-service facilities.  Remember to be good stewards and leave them nicer than you found them.

Cemeteries

Benzie County hosts many historical and modern cemeteries.  Founded in 1863, there is much history from our agricultural & maritime roots.  The Benzie Area Historical Society hosts many grave cleaning events to preserve our robust past.
