Winter Self-Guided Tour

Take a Winter Adventure with a self-guided scenic tour.  Winter vehicle is recommended.

Head south on US-31 to Joyfield Rd. and turn right.  Go 2.7 miles to Putney Rd. and turn left.  Enjoy the enigma that is Gravity Hill.  Return to Joyfield Rd. and turn left until you reach M-22 and turn left.  Go 3/4 mile to the entrance to the Arcadia Dunes Baldy Trailhead.  Take in a gorgeous hike on foot, snowshoe or Nordic ski.  Return to M-22 and turn right, travel 1/2 mile to the breathtaking Arcadia Scenic Turnout—Inspiration Point overlooking Lake Michigan.  Take the staircase to the viewing deck for a truly inspiring experience.  Return to M-22 and turn left, travel 8.1 miles to the Elberta Dunes South Natural Area for short hike to Lake Michigan.  Return to M-22 and turn left, travel 1.5 miles through the village of Elberta to Elberta Beach and the south breakwall of Betsie Lake Harbor.  Return to Frankfort Ave. / M-22 and turn left, traveling across the Betsie River Causeway to the city of Frankfort.  Turn left on Main St. and travel through town to Frankfort Beach and the north Breakwall and Frankfort Lighthouse.  Return to Main St.. And turn left on 7th Street, then right on Forest Ave. / M-115.  Travel 7 miles east to return to the Chamber of Commerce office.
